About This Song
In “Word of Wisdom,” we pause to reflect on our need for God’s guidance in a world often overwhelmed by conflicting information and fast-paced decisions. Rooted in James 1:5 and Proverbs 2:6, this song underscores the promise that God will generously give wisdom to those who ask. The lyrics paint a portrait of a loving Father who longs to shine His light into our darkest questions and most challenging crossroads, just as Jehovah Ori—“The Lord is my Light”—illuminates every step we take.
The melody begins in a gentle, contemplative vein, echoing our human confusion and desperation for divine insight. As the chorus unfolds, it crescendos into a worshipful declaration, praising God as the ultimate source of wisdom and direction. We repent for the times we’ve leaned on our own understanding and invite the Holy Spirit to speak words of clarity into our lives.
A key element of this track is the bridge, where we turn our focus outward—interceding for friends, family, and the wider Church. We recognize that wisdom is not merely for personal benefit but for guiding and uplifting the entire Body of Christ. Finally, the song concludes with a blessing, sending listeners out with a renewed confidence in God’s ability to lead them through every season.
Through “Word of Wisdom,” we hope you’re inspired to seek the Holy Spirit’s counsel not just when life is confusing, but as a daily practice. May this track remind you that true wisdom does not come from human intellect or experience alone, but from a God who sees and knows all things.
Worship Devotion
Devotional: Word of Wisdom – Light Our Way
“Word of wisdom, light our way… Guide our steps from day to day.”
In a world saturated with opinions, decisions, and distractions, we often find ourselves unsure of the next step. We search for clarity, but all too often lean on our own limited understanding. “Word of Wisdom,” a tender, Spirit-breathed worship song from Empowered: A Journey Through the Gifts of the Spirit, calls us back to the One who speaks not just from knowledge, but from divine, eternal insight—Jehovah Ori, the Lord our Light.
The lyrics begin with a confession we all know too well: “We wander lost in endless choice, yearning still to hear Your voice.” How beautifully honest. But instead of leaving us in that place of confusion, the song lifts us into hope—declaring that wisdom from above does shine clear, and it does cast out fear.
James 1:5 promises, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally… and it shall be given.” God isn’t withholding His counsel. He is waiting for us to ask, to pause, to listen. His Word is a lamp to our feet (Psalm 119:105), and His Spirit still speaks into our deepest uncertainties.
There is something sacred in learning to wait. The bridge of this song invites us into that posture: “Speak to us in quiet might, dispel the dark, reveal what’s right.” Here lies a spiritual secret: God’s wisdom often whispers. Not in the noise, but in the stillness. Not in the spotlight, but in the sacred hush. As Isaiah 30:21 reminds us, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…”
This kind of wisdom isn’t merely practical—it’s holy. It carries the weight of heaven’s counsel, as sung in the chorus. The Spirit of wisdom not only illuminates our path but conforms our hearts to Christ’s likeness. That’s why Paul prayed in Colossians 1:9–10 that believers would be “filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding… being fruitful in every good work.” Wisdom is not just guidance—it’s transformation.
What sets this song apart is its intercessory bridge. We aren’t asking for wisdom just for ourselves. We’re asking on behalf of families, communities, churches—the whole Body of Christ. This is the gift of the Spirit at work: not just enlightening us, but equipping us to build up others in love and truth.
“Word of Wisdom” ends where all Spirit-led worship should—on sacred ground. It’s a call to awe. “Our hearts in awe, on sacred ground. Your wisdom reigns beyond all sight…” We don’t need to see every detail ahead. We need to know the One who walks before us.
So, beloved, pause today. Breathe in His presence. Ask for wisdom—not as a last resort, but as a daily rhythm. Lay aside the weight of self-reliance. Whether you’re facing a hard decision, a moment of doubt, or a desire to minister more effectively, the Spirit is near, ready to speak.
Let this be your heart’s prayer:
“Jehovah Ori, light my way. Speak Your word of wisdom into every corner of my life. I trust You to lead me, shape me, and send me—so I can walk not by sight, but by Your holy light.”
Amen.

Sermon Title: “Word of Wisdom – Light for the Path”
Text: James 1:5; Proverbs 3:5–6; Isaiah 30:21; Colossians 1:9–10; 1 Corinthians 2:12–13
Introduction:
Beloved, we live in a time marked by confusion, noise, and an overwhelming barrage of information. Decisions seem more difficult, and clarity often feels just out of reach. In the middle of this spiritual and emotional fog, the Lord has not left us to wander. He has given us His Spirit—and with His Spirit comes the gift of wisdom. The song “Word of Wisdom” from the Empowered album is a prophetic cry for the Church to return to divine counsel and to trust in the wisdom that comes not from man, but from God.
This is not just a cry for direction. It is a declaration of dependency—a call to walk not by sight, but by light. Today, let’s explore three core truths from scripture and song that help us walk in the Word of Wisdom.
1.
God Gives Wisdom Generously to Those Who Ask
Scripture: James 1:5; Proverbs 3:5–6
The lyrics open with a deep longing: “We wander lost in endless choice, yearning still to hear Your voice.” That’s a cry we can all relate to. But James 1:5 offers this promise: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally… and it shall be given him.”
Beloved, God is not stingy with His guidance. He is not silent when we need direction. The problem is not God’s unwillingness to speak—it is often our unwillingness to stop and ask.
Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to “lean not on our own understanding” but to acknowledge Him in all our ways—and He will direct our paths. When we trust Him, He doesn’t just point us to the path; He walks with us on it.
Application:
When you’re uncertain, overwhelmed, or afraid to make the wrong choice—pause. Ask. Wait. Believe that Jehovah Ori, the Lord our Light, will shine in the dark places.
2.
Wisdom from God Is Spiritual, Not Merely Practical
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:12–13; Colossians 1:9–10
In the chorus, we sing: “We trust the truth You impart, let heaven’s counsel fill our heart.” This wisdom is more than good advice. It’s not simply knowledge—it is revelation. It is insight that aligns with the mind and heart of God.
1 Corinthians 2:13 tells us that true wisdom is taught “not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth.” And Colossians 1:9 says we are to be “filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”
This means that the wisdom we seek is spiritual—it is shaped by eternal truth, not earthly trends. It is wisdom that changes not just our decisions, but our character. It forms in us humility, reverence, and trust.
Application:
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern. Don’t just ask, “What should I do?” Ask, “What is the will of God in this situation? How can I glorify Him, love others, and walk in truth?”
3.
Wisdom Isn’t Just for Us—It’s for the Body of Christ
Scripture: Isaiah 30:21; Colossians 1:10
One of the most powerful moments in the song is the bridge: “Speak to us in quiet might… Your words of life we long to hear, in holy wisdom draw us near.” This is a corporate cry. We’re not just asking for ourselves—we’re interceding for our churches, our families, our leaders, our world.
Isaiah 30:21 reminds us, “Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way…” But sometimes, the word you receive is not for your own path—it’s for someone else’s. The Word of Wisdom equips the Body. It brings unity, direction, and alignment. When the Spirit speaks, it blesses the whole Church.
Application:
When you receive insight, don’t keep it to yourself. Pray into it. Share it in humility. Ask how it can edify others. The gift of wisdom is meant to build up—not just to inform, but to transform.
Conclusion:
Beloved, “Word of Wisdom” is not just a song—it’s a prayer. It’s a confession. It’s a commissioning. It reminds us that God speaks, and His wisdom lights our way. Not in the chaos, but in the quiet. Not in the spotlight, but in sacred stillness.
Let me leave you with this blessing from the song’s final line:
“Jehovah Ori, in stillness found, our hearts in awe on sacred ground. Your wisdom reigns beyond all sight—we walk in truth by heaven’s light.”
May we all walk in that light, guided not by what we see, but by what He reveals.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, we come with open hearts. We lay down our pride, our plans, and our need to understand everything. We ask You to fill us with the Word of Wisdom. Speak, Lord, and we will listen. Shine light in our dark places. Make us vessels of Your truth—for our families, our churches, and our world. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

🎙️ Welcome Intro
Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of Empowered: A Journey Through the Gifts of the Spirit. I’m so glad you’ve joined me today. Whether you’re tuning in from your car, your prayer room, or just somewhere quiet to pause and reflect—I want you to know that you are welcome here. This space is all about encountering God through worship, scripture, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Today’s episode centers around one of the most beautiful gifts we can receive from the Spirit: the Word of Wisdom.
So, grab your Bible, take a deep breath, and let’s talk about how the wisdom of God still lights our way.
🕊️ Let’s Talk About Wisdom
You know, one of the greatest needs in the world today is not just information—but wisdom. We have access to so much knowledge at our fingertips—Google, podcasts, books—but in the middle of all that noise, many of us are still crying out, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” And that’s exactly what Word of Wisdom, the song from the Empowered album, invites us to reflect on.
The lyrics begin with this honest confession:
“We wander lost in endless choice, yearning still to hear Your voice.”
Haven’t we all been there? Standing at a crossroads, unsure whether to turn left or right—not just in big life decisions, but even in daily spiritual posture. The good news is, God is not silent. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.” That’s a promise. Not a suggestion, not a maybe—a promise.
💡 The Light That Dispels Fear
The song uses the name Jehovah Ori—“The Lord is my Light”—and I absolutely love that imagery. When you’re in a dark room, you don’t need a map, you need light. And when you’re in a dark season, you don’t need perfect reasoning—you need revelation.
“Your wisdom casts out every fear,” the lyrics declare. That’s what divine wisdom does. It doesn’t just give you answers—it gives you peace. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our heart, lean not on our own understanding, and He will direct our paths.
Wisdom from God is not cold instruction—it’s guidance from a Father who loves us.
🙌 Wisdom Isn’t Just For You
One of the most powerful parts of the song is the bridge:
“Speak to us in quiet might, dispel the dark, reveal what’s right.”
This is where the song shifts from personal to corporate. This isn’t just about you and me making the right decisions. This is about the Church—about praying for our pastors, our cities, our families. Isaiah 30:21 says, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it.”
That word isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it comes in a whisper. A nudge. A verse that leaps off the page. But when it’s from God, it brings life and alignment.
💬 A Quick Personal Story
I remember a moment not long ago where I was overwhelmed—too many options, too much uncertainty. I had been praying for direction for a ministry step, but the more I thought about it, the more confused I became. So I did what I often resist—I stopped. I turned off the phone, closed the laptop, and just sat with God.
And in that stillness, not a booming voice—but a deep impression came: “Trust Me. Just take the next step.” That was all. But it was enough. The fear broke. The pressure lifted. That’s what a word of wisdom can do—it doesn’t always give you the full picture, but it gives you enough light for the step in front of you.
🕯️ Sacred Ground, Sacred Stillness
The song ends in a holy hush:
“Jehovah Ori, in stillness found, our hearts in awe on sacred ground.”
That’s where I want to live. On sacred ground. Not just chasing after the next answer, but walking in daily communion with the One who knows all things.
1 Corinthians 2:13 says we don’t speak according to human wisdom, but what the Holy Spirit teaches. That’s what I want—to speak, to decide, to lead from a place that is Spirit-taught, not self-taught.
🙏 Prayer and Prophetic Call
Let’s pray together.
Holy Spirit, we invite You into this space. We lay down every voice that has clouded our thinking. Every opinion, every fear, every false wisdom. Speak to us, not just for our sake, but for the sake of those around us. Jehovah Ori, light our way. We ask for words of wisdom—for our families, our churches, and our nations. Let us be people who carry Your counsel with reverence and boldness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
💭 Final Encouragement
Friend, don’t be afraid to wait on the Lord. His Word says He gives wisdom freely and generously. So ask. Then expect. And keep your heart tuned to His whisper.
This week, I want to encourage you: journal the questions you’re wrestling with. Bring them into worship. And as you listen again to “Word of Wisdom,” don’t just sing—receive.
Until next time, walk in the Spirit, listen for His voice, and stay anchored in the light of His wisdom.
You are deeply loved, and you’re never walking alone.
