Introduction:

Beloved, we live in a time marked by confusion, noise, and an overwhelming barrage of information. Decisions seem more difficult, and clarity often feels just out of reach. In the middle of this spiritual and emotional fog, the Lord has not left us to wander. He has given us His Spirit—and with His Spirit comes the gift of wisdom. The song “Word of Wisdom” from the Empowered album is a prophetic cry for the Church to return to divine counsel and to trust in the wisdom that comes not from man, but from God.

This is not just a cry for direction. It is a declaration of dependency—a call to walk not by sight, but by light. Today, let’s explore three core truths from scripture and song that help us walk in the Word of Wisdom.

1.

God Gives Wisdom Generously to Those Who Ask

Scripture: James 1:5; Proverbs 3:5–6

The lyrics open with a deep longing: “We wander lost in endless choice, yearning still to hear Your voice.” That’s a cry we can all relate to. But James 1:5 offers this promise: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally… and it shall be given him.”

Beloved, God is not stingy with His guidance. He is not silent when we need direction. The problem is not God’s unwillingness to speak—it is often our unwillingness to stop and ask.

Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to “lean not on our own understanding” but to acknowledge Him in all our ways—and He will direct our paths. When we trust Him, He doesn’t just point us to the path; He walks with us on it.

Application:

When you’re uncertain, overwhelmed, or afraid to make the wrong choice—pause. Ask. Wait. Believe that Jehovah Ori, the Lord our Light, will shine in the dark places.

Wisdom from God Is Spiritual, Not Merely Practical

This means that the wisdom we seek is spiritual—it is shaped by eternal truth, not earthly trends. It is wisdom that changes not just our decisions, but our character. It forms in us humility, reverence, and trust.

Application:

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern. Don’t just ask, “What should I do?” Ask, “What is the will of God in this situation? How can I glorify Him, love others, and walk in truth?”

Wisdom Isn’t Just for Us—It’s for the Body of Christ

Scripture: Isaiah 30:21; Colossians 1:10

One of the most powerful moments in the song is the bridge: “Speak to us in quiet might… Your words of life we long to hear, in holy wisdom draw us near.” This is a corporate cry. We’re not just asking for ourselves—we’re interceding for our churches, our families, our leaders, our world.

Isaiah 30:21 reminds us, “Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way…” But sometimes, the word you receive is not for your own path—it’s for someone else’s. The Word of Wisdom equips the Body. It brings unity, direction, and alignment. When the Spirit speaks, it blesses the whole Church.

Application:

When you receive insight, don’t keep it to yourself. Pray into it. Share it in humility. Ask how it can edify others. The gift of wisdom is meant to build up—not just to inform, but to transform.

Beloved, “Word of Wisdom” is not just a song—it’s a prayer. It’s a confession. It’s a commissioning. It reminds us that God speaks, and His wisdom lights our way. Not in the chaos, but in the quiet. Not in the spotlight, but in sacred stillness.
