About This Song

Background & Inspiration:

“Walk in Wisdom” is inspired by Colossians 4:5-6, where Paul urges believers to walk wisely, making the most of every opportunity. Wisdom is not just about knowledge—it’s about walking in discernment, being led by the Spirit, and applying God’s truth in daily life.

This song is a prayer for direction, a declaration of trust in God’s leading, and a commitment to seeking divine wisdom above all else. It reminds worshippers that true wisdom comes from surrendering our own understanding and allowing the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to guide our steps.

Musical Composition:

This track features a laid-back, head-nodding gospel groove, blending soulful R&B elements with smooth organ runs, warm basslines, and light rhythmic percussion. The atmosphere is contemplative yet confident, giving worshippers a chance to reflect on their walk with God while staying engaged in the rhythm of worship.

Lyrics & Themes:

The lyrics focus on letting go of self-reliance and walking in step with God’s wisdom. The chorus is a declaration, asking El De’ot (the God of Knowledge) to light the path and guide every step. The call-and-response sections encourage personal engagement, as the choir echoes the plea for discernment and truth.

Personal Reflection:

For anyone seeking clarity, direction, or struggling with decisions, this song serves as a reminder that wisdom is found in seeking God above all else. It’s a track that can be played in moments of prayer, reflection, or when needing reassurance that God is leading the way.

Audience Engagement:

With its smooth, steady rhythm, this song is perfect for worship teams, personal devotion, and times of spiritual reflection. It invites listeners to slow down, listen to the Spirit, and trust God’s timing.

Key Lyrics:

“El De’ot, the God of light! Show me truth and guide my sight!”

Worship Devotion

Devotional: Walk in Wisdom

“El De’ot, the God of light! Show me truth and guide my sight.”

In a world of noise, haste, and constant pressure to choose our own way, the quiet invitation of this song—Walk in Wisdom—beckons us back to the voice that truly matters: the voice of God. Rooted in Colossians 4:5–6, this worship moment reminds us that wisdom is not just a concept—it is a walk. It is a lifestyle of listening, trusting, and being led by the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit.

As the lyrics cry out, “Lead me, Lord… Show me the way… Guide my steps,” we are drawn into a posture of surrender. These aren’t just poetic pleas; they’re spiritual declarations from hearts that recognize their deep need for divine direction. Proverbs 3:5–6 echoes this beautifully:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

So many of us try to move forward on our own. We plan, we act, and only later ask God to bless what we’ve decided. But wisdom doesn’t begin with self—wisdom begins with awe. It begins with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10), with honoring Him as El De’ot—the God of Knowledge, the One who sees the full path ahead.

This song gently confronts our independence and invites us to slow down:

“Some of y’all been runnin’ too fast / But wisdom says—slow down, listen, and walk with God.”

How often do we need this reminder? Wisdom isn’t about quick answers. It’s about divine timing. It’s about walking—not running—at the Spirit’s pace.

Isaiah 30:21 gives us a promise:

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…”

Even in seasons of adversity, God doesn’t leave us to wander aimlessly. His Spirit—our Counselor—whispers guidance to the willing heart.

Perhaps you are facing a decision today. Perhaps you’re longing for clarity or peace. James 1:5–6 invites you to ask for wisdom, freely and without fear:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.”

Let this song be your prayer. Let it become the soundtrack of your surrender. “I won’t lean on my own mind,” the verse declares. It’s a confession we all need. Because it is only when we lean on God that we begin to walk in true light.

Yeshua said the Spirit would guide us into all truth (John 16:13). And Colossians 1:9–10 gives us Paul’s pastoral heart: that we would be “filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding… walking worthy of the Lord.”

Walk in Wisdom isn’t just about direction—it’s about intimacy. It’s about knowing the God who walks with us and trusting Him enough to follow. Every step in wisdom is a step in worship. Every pause to listen is a declaration that His voice is enough.

Reflection & Application:

  • What decisions are you rushing that God may be calling you to pause and pray over?

  • Where are you leaning on your own understanding instead of inviting the Holy Spirit to lead?

  • How can you create space in your day to quiet your soul and hear God’s whisper?

Prayer:

El De’ot, the God of Light—shine Your truth on my path. Ruach HaKodesh, I yield to Your leading. Forgive me for moving without You. Teach me to walk in step with Your wisdom. Direct my thoughts, guide my steps, and anchor my heart in Your Word. I trust You, Lord. Speak, and I will follow. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

May your journey today be slow, steady, Spirit-led—and full of wisdom from above.

Sermon: Walking in Wisdom – Following the God Who Guides

Based on the song “Walk in Wisdom” – from the album “Supreme in Christ: A Journey Through Colossians”

Introduction

Beloved, we live in a world overflowing with information but starved for wisdom. So many voices are competing for our attention, but only One voice can truly guide our steps. Today, we turn our hearts to a powerful invitation found in both scripture and song—to walk in wisdom. Not just to know about God, but to walk with Him—step by step, thought by thought, moment by moment. The song “Walk in Wisdom” captures this heart cry:

“Lead me, Lord… Show me the way… Guide my steps.”

As we open the Word, we will explore what it means to walk wisely as sons and daughters of the Kingdom. We’ll look at three core truths that draw us into deeper intimacy with El De’ot—the God of Knowledge—and challenge us to lean not on our own understanding but on His perfect wisdom.

Point 1: Wisdom Begins with Surrender

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

(Proverbs 3:5–6)

True wisdom starts not in the mind but in the heart. It begins when we surrender our limited understanding and choose to trust God completely. Proverbs 3 reminds us that leaning on our own insight leads to misdirection. The song echoes this truth with the lyric:

“I won’t lean on my own mind / Your Spirit speaks, and I’ll abide.”

In this age of instant answers, God calls us to slow down. Wisdom says—pause, pray, and wait for His voice. This is not passive waiting; it is active trust. It is choosing to believe that His ways are higher, His timing is perfect, and His direction leads to life.

Application:

Ask yourself: What decisions am I making in my own strength? Where am I rushing ahead without first hearing from the Lord?

Let this be the moment you surrender—not out of fear, but out of faith.

Point 2: Wisdom Walks by the Spirit

“When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth.”

(John 16:13)

Walking in wisdom is not about formulas—it’s about fellowship. Yeshua promised that the Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKodesh, would guide us into all truth. This is the daily relationship we’re called to—Spirit-led, Spirit-empowered, Spirit-sustained.

The song invites the Holy Spirit with urgency and reverence:

“Ruach HaKodesh, lead today!”

This is not a one-time invitation but a lifestyle. Paul echoes this in Colossians 1:9-10, praying that believers would be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding so they might walk worthy of the Lord. Wisdom isn’t theoretical—it transforms how we live, speak, love, and serve.

Application:

Invite the Spirit into your routine. Begin each day with this simple prayer: “Speak, Lord, and I will follow.” Let the Spirit interrupt your plans, redirect your steps, and renew your thinking.

Point 3: Wisdom Listens for the Whisper

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…”

(Isaiah 30:21)

One of the most profound promises in scripture is that God still speaks. He doesn’t shout over the noise—He whispers. And that whisper is found in the quiet, surrendered places of our hearts. The world may be loud, but wisdom listens.

The song reminds us:

“The world speaks loud, but I wait on You / Your truth alone is what is true.”

In a culture of noise and hurry, we must create space to hear God’s voice. Wisdom is not rushed. Wisdom says slow down. Stop running. Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).

Application:

Practice spiritual stillness. Turn off the noise. Silence your phone. Open the Word. Listen. What is God saying to you today? Where is He directing your next step?

Conclusion: Wisdom is a Walk, Not a Destination

Beloved, wisdom is not a trophy we earn—it is a path we follow. And the One who leads us is faithful. Yeshua, the Light of the World, goes before us. The Spirit walks beside us. And the Father watches over us.

Let us pray for hearts that trust, ears that hear, and feet that follow.

Prayer:

El De’ot, the God of Light—shine Your truth upon our path. Forgive us for leaning on our own understanding. Teach us to walk in Your ways. Holy Spirit, lead us step by step into wisdom, truth, and grace. Yeshua, we trust You. Guide us, shape us, and walk with us. In Your name, Amen.

Call to Action:

This week, let “Walk in Wisdom” become your anthem. As you sing it, don’t just worship—surrender. Don’t just listen—follow. Let the lyrics lead you into a deeper walk with the God who never misguides. Amen.

Podcast Script

🎙️ Podcast Episode: Walk in Wisdom

By Darren Winfield, Spirit-led Worship Host

Hey family—welcome back to the podcast. I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re driving, walking, washing dishes, or just sitting still with a warm drink, I pray this time together becomes a moment of peace and presence for you. A moment where the noise fades and the voice of God grows clearer.

Today we’re reflecting on a beautiful, timely worship track from the Supreme in Christ album—a song called “Walk in Wisdom.” And wow… what a powerful invitation it is. This song doesn’t just teach us about wisdom—it invites us to live it. To slow down, tune in, and walk with God—not ahead of Him, not behind, but in step.

Let’s be real—life moves fast. Too fast. And if you’re anything like me, there are days when you find yourself running… rushing through decisions, conversations, even your time with God. But “Walk in Wisdom” gently pulls us back. It sings over us like a friend who knows we’re tired:

“Some of y’all been runnin’ too fast / But wisdom says—slow down, listen, and walk with God.”

Doesn’t that hit home?

You see, wisdom in scripture isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about knowing where to find them. It’s relational. It’s about walking closely with the One who sees the end from the beginning.

Colossians 4:5-6 says, “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt…”

There’s urgency there—redeem the time. But there’s also restraint—let your speech be gracious. That’s the tension: walking wisely means moving with purpose, but not panic.

And if I’m honest, I’ve often confused being productive with being wise. But friends, the Lord doesn’t call us to hustle for heaven—He calls us to walk with Him. Step by step. Day by day.

The chorus of the song lifts a powerful prayer:

“El De’ot, the God of light—show me truth and guide my sight.”

El De’ot means “God of Knowledge”—the One who sees what we can’t. The One who knows what’s around the bend. And the good news? He’s not silent. Isaiah 30:21 says, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’”

That verse has carried me through so many crossroads. There have been seasons in my life where I’ve begged God for a billboard, and instead, He’s given me a whisper. A gentle nudge. A sense of peace that didn’t make sense—but turned out to be His perfect direction.

Maybe that’s where you are today. Maybe you’re praying about a job, a relationship, a move… and you’re not hearing fireworks. Just stillness. Friend, don’t mistake silence for absence. Sometimes wisdom walks in whispers.

James 1:5 gives us this promise:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

No shame. No hesitation. Just ask. And then wait.

Waiting isn’t wasted. It’s worship. It’s trust. And this song teaches us how to wait in faith.

I love the line in verse two:

“I won’t lean on my own mind / Your Spirit speaks, and I’ll abide.”

That word abide is rich. It’s not just visiting God in prayer—it’s staying. It’s making Him your home. And that’s where wisdom grows—in the abiding place.

Let me ask you… when’s the last time you paused just to ask the Holy Spirit, “What do You think about this?”

Not “Can You bless what I already decided?”—but truly seeking His mind?

Yeshua promised us in John 16:13 that the Spirit of Truth would guide us into all truth. That means He speaks. And He wants to lead you—today, tomorrow, always.

So let this song be more than background music. Let it be your posture. Your prayer. Your declaration. Wisdom isn’t a destination—it’s a daily walk. And the One who walks with you is faithful, patient, and full of light.

Let’s take a moment now to respond in prayer.

🎧 Prayer:

El De’ot, God of all wisdom and light—we turn our hearts toward You. We’ve run too fast. We’ve leaned on our own thoughts. But today, we stop. We listen. We ask You to guide our steps. Holy Spirit, be our counselor. Speak to the deep places. Illuminate our path. Help us not to rush, but to rest in Your timing. Yeshua, direct our way. Be our light, our truth, our peace. We choose to walk with You—not ahead, not behind, but in step. In Your name we pray, amen.

🎧 Closing Thoughts:

As you go about your week, let this be your rhythm: pause, pray, proceed. That’s the rhythm of wisdom. And if you ever lose your way, remember—He’s still whispering.

Until next time, keep worshipping, keep listening, and keep walking… in wisdom.

Bless you, family.
