Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Devotion:

This passage urges us to offer our entire lives to God as an act of worship. A living sacrifice means that our whole being—our thoughts, actions, and desires—are continually offered up to God. The concept of a living sacrifice contrasts with the dead sacrifices of the Old Testament. We are called to be alive in Christ, actively living out our faith in a way that honors God. Renewing our minds is a critical aspect of this call. The world around us constantly tries to shape our thinking and values, but we are called to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. This means immersing ourselves in God’s Word, allowing His truth to reshape our perspectives, and aligning our thoughts with His.

As we live as living sacrifices, we are able to discern God’s will. This is not about following a set of rules, but about cultivating a deep relationship with God where we understand His heart and His desires for us. It’s about walking in intimacy with Him, being sensitive to His leading, and responding in obedience.

Reflect on your own life. Are there areas where you need to surrender more fully to God? Are there patterns of thinking that need to be renewed by His Word? Commit to living as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, and experience the joy of true and proper worship.
